4 hr workweek

What are you putting off out of fear?

From the book 4 hour workweek, on idea has been resonating in my head the last few days. I scanned the previous 100 pages looking for the quote: page46

"what are you putting off out of fear? Usually, what we fear most is what we most need to do. That phone call, that conversation, whatever the action may be -- it is fear of unknown outcomes that prevents us from doing what we need to do. "

He goes on to a solution and challenge --

"define the worst case, accept it, and do it. What we fear doing most is usually what we most need to do. As I have heard said, a person's success in life can usually be measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations he or she is willing to have. Resolve to do one thing everyday that you fear. I got into this habit by attempting to contact celebrities and famous business people for advice."

low information diet

Inspired directly from the 4 -hour workweek.  I'm (relatively) devouring this book.  Even though I have been quite busy at work, but I've still made it a third of the way through the 4 - Hour Workweek.

Low-information diet:
        - I'm going on a 1-week media fast.  (I had already cut down, so just a taking it to the next level).
             -  No newspapers, magazines, audiobooks, nonmusic radio.  Music is allowed.
             -  No news websites whatsoever  (uh oh iphone, political, & apple blogs)
             -  No television at all
             -  No web surfing unless necessary to complete a work task

Here's How I've done thus far:
            - Today I have gone for a long walk with my wife, dog, went out to dinner @ our favorite local chinese restaurant.
            - I have been able to define clearly my top 5 goals for tomorrow.
            - I did watch the first 5 minutes of tivo, as my wife updated me on obama's big speech.
            - I'm counting updating this site as a "work priority", so I can research for posts, but not blindly websurf.
            - Was able to spend some quality time with my dog, took him to the vet for checkup.  The building is brand new and beautiful.
